Elva Ellett Jackson

Bicknell, Ut/Yuma,AZ - Elva Ellett Jackson, age 85 of Yuma, Arizona and formerly of Bicknell, died November 17, 2008 in Yuma. She was born September 21, 1923 in Bicknell, Utah, a daughter of Almon Clifford and Venettia Rasmussen Ellett. Her father died when she was four years old and she was raised in Bicknell, by her widowed mother and her grandparents. She graduated from Wayne High School, Class of 1941. She attended Brigham Young University. On June 8, 1943 she married Ernest Baker Jackson in the Manti LDS Temple. He died March 27, 2003. Elva moved to Yuma in 1958 when her husband took a job there. For over 20 years she sold real estate in Yuma. She had a broker’s license, but chose to work first for Jacobsen Realty and later for Town and Country Realty. She was an active member of the LDS Church, serving in many capacities, including Young Women’s President and Relief Society President. With all of her accomplishments, she felt her greatest accomplishment was her family. She loved being with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and was an influence for good in their lives. She is survived by her eight children: JoAnn (Wayne) Kalama of Azusa, CA; Anita (Alan) Newman of Huntington Beach, CA; Mary (Ron) Curl of Riverside, CA; Ernest Lee (Nancy) Jackson of Glendora, CA; Barbara (Kim) Broby of Yuma, AZ; David Ellett (Lisa) Jackson of Glendora, CA; Donna (Donald) Rohbock of Fruit Heights, UT; Jeri Lynn (Val) Taylor of Yuma, AZ; 45 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; a brother, Mont and Elaine Ellett of Bicknell. She was preceded in death by her step-sister, Ellen (Orlo) Durfey. Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 29, 2008 at 1:00 P.M. in the Thurber LDS Ward Chapel in Bicknell, where friends may call for viewing Saturday morning from 11:00 to 12:30 prior to the services. Burial will be in the Bicknell Cemetery under the care of the Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield and Salina, Utah.
