Erma M. Anderson

CENTERFIELD - Our beloved mother Erma Mason Anderson passed away Monday September 3, 2018 at the Mission at Community Living Center in Centerfield. Erma was born December 9, 1926 in Eureka, Utah to Raymond and Wilma Pauline Avery Mason. When she was three-years-old her family moved to Aurora. She attended Aurora Elementary and North Sevier High School, graduating as Valedictorian in 1945. She married Roy J. Anderson on May 15, 1947 in the Manti Temple. They lived in Mayfield their entire married life. They were blessed with three children, twins Ardean (Melody), and Radene (Hal) Pickett, and Nedra (Jeff) Bowles. Roy died April 29, 1986. Erma was an active LDS Church member. She served in the ward presidencies of the Relief Society, Young Women, and Primary. She taught Primary for 23 years straight. She belonged to Mayfield’s Literary Club and was an avid reader. She loved to embroider and quilt. She worked as a cook in the Manti Temple and as a custodian for the Gunnison Stake. Erma loved to travel. She and her husband traveled throughout the United States. After his passing, she traveled with her girlfriends to Europe, Australia, and Israel. She traveled with her daughters to all of the pageants the church offers, from Palmyra, New York to Oakland, CA. Her last international trip was to China with her oldest grandchild Kirsten Newsom. Erma was blessed with 13 grandchildren and 35 great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held in the Mayfield Ward Chapel on Saturday September 8 at 12 Noon. The viewing will be that morning from 10:30 to 11:30. Burial will be in the Mayfield Cemetery under the care of the Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield and Salina, Utah.
