Evan N. Kennedy

Aurora, Utah - Evan Niel Kennedy, age 89, of Aurora, passed away Saturday, July 1, 2017 in Centerfield. He was born September 5, 1927 in Salina, Utah, a son of Earl and Ethel Loretta Oliver Kennedy. He honorably served his country during World War II from January 1946 to March 1947. Evan married the love of his life, Fonda Shaw, November 17, 1948 in Aurora. Their marriage was solemnized in the Manti LDS Temple July 20, 1957. He was an active member of the LDS Church, serving as a Jr. MM Basketball Coach. He also served in the Young Men's Program and as High Priest Group Secretary. Evan enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening, bowling, camping and 4 wheeler riding. He was always there to support his family. After retiring from working at the USG, he and Fonda were always together until her passing January 25, 2015. He is survived by his children: Jeanette and Newell Anderson of Gunnison; Sharon and DeVere Sudweeks of Aurora; Loretta and Steve Bagley of Huntington; Boyd and Nancy Kennedy of Aurora; 11 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Ethel Kennedy; his wife, Fonda; sister and brothers: Leone Murry, Verge Kennedy and Boyd Kennedy. Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 8, 2017 at 12 Noon in the Aurora 1st LDS Ward Chapel, where friends may call for viewing Friday evening from 6 to 8 P.M. or Saturday morning from 10:00 to 11:30 prior to the services. Burial with military honors accorded by the Salina American Legion Post #36 and the Utah Honor Guard will be in the Aurora City cemetery under the care of the Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield and Salina, Utah. The family would like to thank the staff at Beehive Homes of Richfield; Mission at Community in Centerfield and Zion's Way Home Health and Hospice, for their love and caring for our Father.
