Evelyn C. Wallace

Salina, Utah - Our queen, Evelyn Catherine Bailey Wallace, age 83, of Salina, and formerly of Ft. Collins, Colorado, died Monday, October 2, 2006 in Gunnison, Utah. She was born on June 7, 1923 in Coalmont, Colorado, a daughter of Benjamin Harrison (Harry) and Epsie Jamima Jones Bailey, both now deceased. She spent 10 years of her childhood in Weaverville, North Carolina. Evelyn married Robert Paul Wallace on August 2, 1948 in Cheyenne, Wyoming. He preceded her in death on November 12, 1995. Evelyn was a very loving homemaker, wife, mom, grandma, grandma great (GG), sister, aunt and friend. Her arms were always wide open to take in, love and adore one more. Mom taught us that there are two main things in this life, knowing Jesus as your Lord and Savior and family. She was a charter member of Faith Baptist Church of Salina, Utah. She is survived by her son, Ed (Lynda) Wallace of Jacksonville, Florida; daughters: Mary (Phil) Carpenter of LaPorte, Colorado; Catherine (Lee) Torgerson, Bobbi (Gus) Ryan, her newest child, Jackie Marshall, all of Salina, UT; her grandchildren: Kent (Amy) Hohnstein, Las Vegas, NV; Alan (Donna) Sage, Castle Rock, CO; Curtis Wallace, Chicago, IL; Jim (Missy) Carpenter, Fruita, CO; Brian Carpenter, Alison (Angel Face) Carpenter, both of Ft. Collins, CO; Nathan Carpenter, LaPorte, CO; Paul (Lorie) Torgerson, Jason (Janene) Torgerson, all of Salina, UT; her great-grandchildren: Harli and Nicole Hohnstein, Las Vegas, NV; Ashley and Andrew Sage, Castle Rock, CO; Ethan Gdovin, Fruita,CO; Tyrel, McKenzie, Taylor, Alayna Torgerson, Wyatt and Bobbi Torgerson, all of Salina, UT. She was happy with the news of another baby boy great-grandchild on the way. She is also survived by her niece and namesake, Evelyn Honeycutt Jones of Ft. Collins, CO; brother, Merle (Rhoabelle) Bailey of Ft. Collins, CO; sisters-in-law: Helen Bailey, Phoenix, AZ; Sue Bailey of Grand Junction, CO; as well as numerous very special nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her grandson, Todd Carpenter, a sister, Esther (Grady) Honeycutt; brothers: Carl (Arabella) Bailey, Ben (LaVerne) Bailey, Ray Bailey, and Loren Bailey; nephews: Gene Honeycutt, William Bailey, Bill Bailey and Joe Bailey; nieces, Frances Bailey Rogers and Pat Bailey Armstrong. A special celebration of her life will take place at Bohlender Funeral Chapel in Ft. Collins, CO. on Monday, October 9, 2006 at 2:00 P.M. A visitation time will be on Sunday, October 8, 2006 from 2 to 4 P.M. at the funeral chapel. Burial will be at Grandview Cemetery in Ft. Collins, Colorado. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Faith Baptist Church, PO Box 54 Salina, Utah 84654. The family would like to thank Dr. Kimberly Beck and staff, the staff at Gunnison Valley Hospital. Also Vicki Gurney at Home Health and Hospice and staff and Dan Bruce. She said everyone treated her so special, it made her feel just like a “Queen”.
