Evelyn Mason Roberts

Salina, Utah - Evelyn Mason Roberts, age 94, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, at her home in Salina on July 8, 2018. She was born April 15, 1924 in Salina, a daughter of Ferald Austin and Vivian Alida Anderson Mason. She was raised in Aurora where she met the love of her life, Fay Roberts. They were married on February 28, 1942 in Flagstaff, Arizona. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Jordan River LDS Temple September 30, 2003. Fay passed away February 26, 2005. Evelyn was an active member of the LDS Church where she served in various callings including Primary, Relief Society and Ward Chorister. She was very passionate about missionary work and teaching her family the importance of genealogy. She enjoyed being outside with her flowers, working in her garden, sewing, traveling, quilting and putting puzzles together with her grandchildren. She loved being around the family and looked forward to the cousins party at Maple Grove every year. Evelyn was a talented musician and loved playing the guitar, harmonica and singing, and her love of music carried on throughout her life. Her favorite time was spent at the cabin, hosting family reunions where she performed her famous "Bologne" song that will always be cherished by her family. Evelyn is survived by her children: Steve and Peggy Roberts, Sharleen Robinson, and Aileen MacArt, all of Salina; Karylin and Brent Smart of Tooele; 27 grandchildren; 65 great-grandchildren; 23 great-great-grandchildren; brothers: Wendell and Roa Mason, Thurel and Karen Mason, Royce and Jolynn Mason, all of Aurora; Derrel and Kathy Mason of Salina; brothers-in-law: Leonard Roberts of Monroe; Levar and Verona Roberts of Sandy. . She is preceded in death by her parents, Ferald and Vivian Mason; her husband, Fay; children: Nola Fay Roberts, LaRee Brinkerhoff, Vivian Roberts, Troy Roberts, Shawna Gamangasso; and her sons-in-law: Earl Brinkerhoff and Paul Robinson; and multiple brothers and sisters-in-law. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Adam Jensen at Gunnison Valley Hospital and the Gunnison Hospice Staff. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, July 17, 2018 at 12 Noon in the Salina LDS Stake Center, 98 West 400 North in Salina, where friends may call for viewing Tuesday morning from 10:00 to 11:30 prior to the services. Burial will be in the Monroe City Cemetery under the care of the Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield and Salina, Utah.
