Fay Roberts

June 28, 1924 — February 26, 2005

Salina, Utah - Our beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and friend, Fay Roberts, age 80, passed away at his home in Salina on Saturday, February 26, 2005. He was born June 28, 1924 in Joseph, Utah, a son of James Able and Caroline Conder Roberts. Fay was the 6th of 11 children and was raised in Austin, Utah. Fay started working at a young age mining, truck driving and logging. He served honorably in the US Army during World War II, where he was awarded the Purple Heart. He married his sweetheart, Evelyn Mason on February 28, 1942 in Flagstaff, Arizona. They were blessed with nine children. Their marriage was solemnized in the Jordan River LDS Temple, September 30, 2003. Fay purchased a farm in the Sevier Valley and operated it for 17 years. In the 60's he moved his family to Salt Lake City where he owned and operated Phillips 66 at 205 East 3300 South. After 35 years he moved to Salina where he dealt in used cars. Fay was a member of the LDS Church. His family was very important to him. He loved spending time with them at his cabin. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping. He also loved a good game of cards. Fay is survived by his wife of Salina; children: Steven and Peggy Roberts, Sharleen and Paul Robinson, Karylin Riggs, Aileen and David MacArt, all of Salina; Shawna and Dino Gamangasso of Kearns; brothers and sisters: Leonard Roberts, Scott and Jennie Boyter, all of Austin; Lavar and Verona Roberts, Nola and Tom Crane, all of Salt Lake City; Elva Thompson of Richfield; 24 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by three daughters and one son: Nola Fay Roberts, LaRee and Earl Brinkerhoff, Vivian Roberts and Troy Roberts; three brothers: Bertrum B. Jensen, Rulon J. Roberts and Evan Roberts; two sisters: Illeen Morrill and Idonna Shipp; two grandsons: James Earl Brinkerhoff and David Tim Sterling; a granddaughter, Angelia Roberts and a great-grandson, Jaden Harris. Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 3, 2005 at 12 Noon in the Salina LDS Stake Center, located at 98 west 400 North in Salina. Friends may call for viewing at the Springer Turner Funeral Home in Salina, Wednesday evening from 6 to 8 P.M. and at the Stake Center Thursday morning from 10:30 to 11:30 prior to the services. Burial with military honors accorded by the Salina American Legion Post #36 will be in the Monroe City Cemetery under the direction of the Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield, Salina and Gunnison, Utah.
