Richfield, Utah - Our beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and brother, Flann Owen Root, age 84, died August 14, 2008 at his home in Richfield. He was born January 21, 1924 in Moscow, Idaho, a son of Charles and Mary Elizabeth Williams Root. He married Jessa Lee Graham, November 10, 1954 in Asotin, Washington. He was a Veteran of World War II where he served as an engineer in the US Army. Flann worked as a mine mechanic in the mining and logging industry. He started working in the Uranium Mines in Jeffery City, Wyoming in the late 70's. He then moved to Kanab and worked on the Arizona Strip, retiring in 1988. They moved to Salt Lake City until 1995 when they moved to Orderville and then to Richfield in 2001. Flann enjoyed fishing. He was an avid troll fisherman and he enjoyed camping, riding four-wheelers and snow mobiles. Flann is survived by his wife, Jessa, of Richfield; children: Leisa L. and David Beat of Arapahoe, Nebraska; Frank Owen Root of West Valley City; Mary Ann Clark, Starla R. and Lorentino Roque, all of Salt Lake City; 13 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; three sisters: Della Barnes of Spokane, Washington; Elsie Kintzer of Walla Walla, Washington; Shirley Marie Laws of Seattle, Washington. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers and one sister: Samuel Austin Root, Charles Lester Root and Felicia Garcia. Friends may call for viewing at the Springer Turner Funeral Home in Richfield, Wednesday, August 20, 2008 from 7 to 8 P.M. Private family services will be held at the Springer Turner Funeral Home in Richfield. At his request, his remains will be cremated and burial will take place at a later date.
