Frank C. Ezell

September 1, 1925 — February 21, 2022

Venice, Utah – Frank Coleman Ezell, age 96 of Venice, passed away in the early morning hours of February 21, 2022 in Richfield, Utah. He was born September 1, 1925 in Athens, Limestone County, Alabama, a son of James Buford and Roxie Louella Christopher Ezell. He grew up in Athens and graduated from high school. He served his country during World War II in the United States Navy, serving on the USS Core. His father died in an auto accident in 1945 when Frank was 20 years old. Frank worked as a Bartender, then Pipe Fitter in Construction. He taught apprentice pipefitters for many years. Frank married Catherine “Kay” May Coughlin Smith December 31, 1964 in Las Vegas, Nevada. He lived in Norwalk, California, Cypress, California, moved to Norco, California in 1981 and in 1988 they moved to Venice where he has since resided. His beloved Kay passed away September 11, 2016. He loved to hunt and fish and loved going on the yearly hunting trip with friends and family. He drew a buffalo tag and bagged a female bison. He raised Viszla dogs for field trials and enjoyed riding his horses. Frank is survived by his step-children: Linda and Stu White of Veneta, Oregon; Stephen and Kris Smith of Grand Terrace, California; Gregory and Helen Smith of Buena Park, California; son, Bruce Schroeder of Bend, Oregon; son-in-law: Bubba Atkeissen of Tavares, Florida; grandchildren: Matt and Angela White of Napa, California; Tara Sloan of Orlando, Florida; Adam Atkeisson of Denver, Colorado; Carissa and Andy Rinner of Buena Park, California; Shaye and Louie Corral of San Pedro, California; Carly Mahle of Yucaipa, California; Clinton and Christina Smith of La Palma, California; Ashley Smith of Buena Park, California; Erik Schroeder of Springfield, Virginia; Eligh Schroeder of Seattle, Washington; 13 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Kay; step-daughter, Martha Atkeisson; siblings: James Dennis Ezell, Edith Lois Marbut, Herbert Wilson Ezell, Ruby Jean Tinnon and Cynthia Lou Weigert. Funeral mass will be held on Saturday, March 12, 2022 at 11:00 A.M. at the St. Elizabeth Catholic Church, 815 North Highway 118 in Central Valley. Friends may call for viewing at the Springer Turner Funeral Home, 260 North 400 West in Richfield, Friday evening from 6 to 8 P.M. Burial with military honors accorded by the VFW Sevier Post #5050 and the United States Navy Honor Guard will be in the Venice Cemetery under the care of the Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield and Salina, Utah.
