Fremon J Sorensen Lyman, Utah - Fremon J Sorensen, age 93, of Lyman, peacefully passed away April 22, 2004 at the home of his daughter in Loa, Utah. He was born December 10, 1910 in Lyman, Utah, a son of Erastus and Christiana “Annie” Rasmussen Sorensen. He married Twila Dell Nelson, June 26, 1936 in the Manti LDS Temple. She died January 6, 2003. Fremon was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served a mission in the Northern States from 1932-34. He was involved in scouting in the ward, stake, district and council for more than 70 years. He received the Silver Beaver Award in 1953. He served in the Lyman Ward Bishopric for 11 years, and as counselor in the Wayne Stake Presidency for 16 years. He was then sustained as Stake Patriarch. Fremon and Twila served as ordinance workers in the Manti Temple for two years and Fremon received the Sealing Power from President Spencer W. Kimball. Fremon has also been active in civic and community affairs, serving as board member of the Seven Mile Grazers, Fremont Irrigation Co. and Lyman Water System. Since semi-retiring from ranching and farming, Fremon worked for Dixie National Forest and has kept busy building and fixing various things for his family and friends. Fremon is survived by his children: Verdell and Diane Sorensen, Cove Fort Mission, Utah; Karen and LaMont Ellett, Loa, Utah; Gilbert and Deanna Sorensen, South Jordan, Utah; Janet S. (Ray, deceased) Williamson, Lyman, Utah. Fremon and Twila have enjoyed 35 grandchildren, 61 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great-grandchildren. Fremon was preceded in death by a daughter, Carolyn Sorensen; 1 brother and 10 sisters: Voyle E. Sorensen; Norah DeLeeuw Noble Brown Taylor; Laura Greco Spracher Chappell; Celia Christiana Oldroyd; Nettie Maine Sorensen; Floy Amanda Sorensen; Diantha Acherman; Lucy Metthea Torgerson; Ethel Amelia Taylor; Milda Sorensen and Matilda “Tilda” Taylor. Funeral services will be held Monday, April 26, 2004 at 1:00 P.M. in the Lyman LDS Ward Chapel, where friends may call for viewing Sunday evening from 6 to 8 P.M. and again Monday morning from 11:00 to 12:30 prior to the services. Burial will be in the Lyman Cemetery under the direction of the Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield, Salina and Gunnison, Utah.
