Glenwood, Utah – Garry L. Jensen, age 89, passed away December 2, 2024, at his home in Glenwood. He was born January 10, 1935, in Kingston, Utah, a son of Ward L. and Sada D. Nielsen Jensen. He grew up on the family farm in Kingston along with his three brothers, where they enjoyed hunting pheasants with their Dad. He graduated from Richfield High School, Class of 1953.
After graduation, Garry joined the army and served his country during the Korean Conflict. He was discharged as a Corporal in the United States Army.
Garry married Mary Annette Williams in June of 1957. They had one son, Phillip Lee Jensen. They later divorced. He then married Darlene Nutter in September of 1959. They had two children, Darla Rae and Shawn. They later divorced. He later married Karen Marie Redden September 13, 1969, in Elko, Nevada. They had four children, Lance, Glade, Kerry and Tyler.
Garry owned and operated his own trucking business in Sevier County for many years.
He enjoyed family fishing trips to Lake Powell and deer hunting with friends and relatives in Sevier County.
He is a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Garry took pride in raising a good garden every season, sharing his produce with friends and family members.
He is survived by his wife, Karen Jensen of Glenwood; his children: Darla J. and Clayton Taylor of Vernal; Shawn L. Jensen of Young, Arizona; Lance M. and Gina Jensen of St. George; Glade “Bucky” Jensen and Kerry M. Jensen, both of Glenwood; and Tyler J. Jensen of Salt Lake City; 10 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by a son, Phillip Lee Jensen; a great-granddaughter, Sookie Agnes Walton; his parents, Ward and Sada Jensen; and three brothers: James Phil Jensen, Delward Jensen and Robert N. Jensen.
Graveside services will be held Friday, December 6, 2024, at 10:00 A.M. in the Glenwood Cemetery.
Friends may call for viewing at the Springer Turner Funeral Home in Richfield, Thursday evening from 6 to 8 P.M.
Burial with military honors accorded by the VFW Sevier Post #5050 and the Utah Honor Guard will be in the Glenwood Cemetery under the care of the Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield and Salina, Utah.
