Gary Dotson

Florence, Arizona/Venice, Utah - Our beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather and brother, Robert Gary Dotson, age 76, died November 6, 2014 in Mesa, Arizona. He was born July 20, 1938 in Kansas City, Missouri, a son of Robert and Lillian Dotson. He attended Salt Lake South High School. He married Sylvia Anna Dotson, January 14, 1956 in Provo, Utah. Gary was a proud Army veteran, a servant, a lover, a patriot, a cowboy at heart, a modern day frontiersman, a wanderer, an explorer, an adventurer, a dreamer, the ever quintessential spinner of almost believable cock-and-bull yarns. He is survived by his children: Robert and Rebecca Dotson of Nutrioso, AZ; Chardale and Walt Irvine of Richfield, UT; Sherone and Ron Taylor of Evanston, WY; Shaun and Chad Horton of Chandler, AZ; 13 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; Siblings: OdenaBluemel, Dean Caldwell. He is preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Lillian Dotson; wife, Sylvia Anna Dotson; a son, Lamar (Maury) Dotson, brothers; Sidney (Jack) Dotson, Charles (Chuck) Dotson, Alpha (Ed) Dotson, Leslie Dotson, Roy Caldwell, Lamar (Maury) Caldwell, sisters; Rosalie Wririe, Nellie Dotson, Anna Dotson, Ruby Dotson, Rose Dotson. Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 15, 2014 at 11:00 A.M. in the Venice Utah LDS Ward Chapel, where friends may call for viewing Saturday morning from 9:30 to 10:30 A.M prior to the services. Burial with military honors accorded by the VFW Sevier Post #5050 and the Utah Honor Guard will be in the Venice Cemetery under the care of the Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield, Utah.
