Gary M. Ellett

Bicknell, Utah - Our beloved husband, father, grandfather and brother, Gary M. Ellett, age 60, died April 16, 2010 at his home in Bicknell, after a valiant and brave battle with cancer. He was born July 28, 1949 in Salina, Utah, a son of Joseph Alonzo “Lon” and Relia Mikkelsen Chappell Ellett. He grew up in Bicknell and graduated from Wayne High School, Class of 1967 and attended one year at Dixie College in St. George. Gary married the love of his life, Cindy Edwards, May 10, 1969 in Lyman, Utah. They are the proud parents of four beautiful children. Gary was always so willing to help his friends, neighbors and family with any project or work. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and harvesting his garden, mostly tomatoes and cucumbers. He was a farmer and rancher, and worked in heavy construction most of his life. He was also a miner, mining coal, uranium and ore. Gary was a member of the LDS Church. He loved his children and grandchildren more than life itself. He was so proud of all their accomplishments. Gary is survived by his devoted wife, Cindy, of Bicknell; his children: Race and Andrea Ellett of Henderson, Nevada; Misty and Doug Witherby of Roy; Trisa and Chuck Adamson of Arlington, Texas; Teyia and Danny Tutor of Richfield; 9 grandchildren; brother and sister: Rodney Ellett of Bicknell; Cathrine and Dwight Meilke of Loa; half brothers and half sisters: Don and Marsh Lynn Chappell of Loa; Val Gene and Sharla B. Chappell of Richfield; Lane and Peggy Ellett of Bicknell; Roma and Dunk Taylor of Bicknell; Maurine and Bob Winters of Toppenish, Washington; Jennett and Doug Morrell of Central Valley; step-sister and step-brother: Ardis and Norman Christensen of Escalante; George Afton and Gloria Chappell of Salt Lake City; sisters and brothers-in-law: Linda and Lee Myers of Billings, Montana; Jeraldine and Wayne Grundy of Annabella; Stella Edwards, Russell and Peri Edwards, all of St. George; Roy Don and Julie Edwards of Roy; Bob and Debbie Edwards of Loa. He was preceded in death by his parents, J.A. and Relia Ellett; his father and mother-in-law, Don R. and Lucile McClellan Edwards; a half brother and his wife, Keith and June Chappell. Funeral Services will be held Saturday, April 24, 2010 at 1:00 P.M. in the Thurber LDS Ward Chapel in Bicknell, where friends may call for viewing Friday evening from 6 to 8 P.M. or Saturday morning from 11:00 to 12:30 prior to the services. Burial will be in the Bicknell Cemetery under the care of the Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield and Salina, Utah.
