Gena Coleman

October 22, 1959 — September 20, 2022

Richfield, Utah - Gena Teresa Manwill Coleman was born October 22, 1959, and passed away from a prolonged illness in the early morning hours of September 20, 2022. She was raised by her parents, Cyrus “Cy” and Wanda Manwill. She grew up helping her dad with the farm and cattle and with her parent’s mail route along the Glenwood Road and Koosharem. She loved taking her horse Ladybug for rides and learned to play the piano from an early age. She had the opportunity to have many foster siblings over her growing up years of whom she loved dearly.

In her junior year of high school, she married Hal Jolley in the Manti Temple. Soon after she graduated from Richfield High School, they had their daughter Jamie. To their union also was born a son, Michael. They lived in Glenwood for much of their married life. Later, Gena and Hal divorced, and she married Gary Lynn Coleman of whom she had also known during her high school years. Their marriage was sealed later in the Manti Temple. To their union came one son, Kenley, and two daughters, Lacee and Shayleena.

Her kids and family meant everything to her, and she would often express how she all wanted them close to her and to each other. She would do anything for them. She was always supporting and helping them in any way she could. She loved all her beautiful grandchildren as each of them arrived and doted on them often.

Gena did many different things in her life. She worked at Deb’s Hallmark in Richfield for many years and made many friends there. She enjoyed helping at the auction, R Livestock Connection, near Monroe every Wednesday for many years. Her kids often remember going there with her. She took over her parents’ mail route for many years as well. Gena also shared her talent and love of music with numerous students by teaching them how to play the piano. She and Gary also worked together on several different occasions including a wood business called “Lil’ Bit Wood” where Gary made objects for Gena to paint. Above all, she loved being a homemaker and being home with her kids.

Gena loved any type of music, but especially when one of her children or grandchildren played or sang for her. She loved spending time camping, especially if it involved going to Maple Grove, Gooseberry, or Fishlake. She enjoyed swimming with her family as well as the time she spent with her dogs.

She was a faithful member of the The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She served in many capacities over the years but enjoyed being the primary pianist the most.

She is preceded in death by her parents, several uncles and aunts, and two grandsons Jared Jolley and Nickolas Coleman. She is survived by her husband Gary and their children Jamie (Merle) Bowen of Cedaredge, Colorado, Michael (Brandi) Jolley of Spring Creek, Nevada, Kenley (Mindy) Coleman of Richfield, Utah, Lacee (Aaron) Bradshaw of Roosevelt, Utah and Shayleena (Ryan) Gentry of Provo, Utah. She had 19 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.
