Salina, Utah - Eugene Ramon “Gene” Casto, age 60, died December 6, 2010 in Salina. He was born April 12, 1950 in Salina, a son of Tony Able and Wilma LaRue Keele Casto. He graduated from North Sevier High School, Class of 1968. He served his country honorably in the United States Air Force during the Viet Nam War for four years. Gene was a solitary person, at home and completely happy with just his own company, but also a devoted friend to the few people who could call him a friend. He was very much at home on the mountain, he worked on the mountain for years. He had a great love of nature and animals. He spent countless nights just sitting at camp or on his front porch listening to the birds sing. He could name most of the birds just from their song. He loved flying in every sense, both piloting and flying remote control models. Gene was a hard worker; anything he did was done right, no shortcuts. Gene was a very devoted son; he loved his mother and father, unconditionally. Gene had a brilliant mind and an incredible sense of humor. He will be greatly missed by his relatives and friends that he left behind. He will be thought of often and with great love and respect. We would like to personally thank Gunnison Valley Hospice for their excellent care of Gene in his time of need. You are truly remarkable people and do a wonderful service. There will be no services at this time.
