Gene Meeker

Salina, Utah – Gene Allen Meeker, age 82, of Salina, died November 29, 2011 in Centerfield, Utah. He was born February 18, 1929 in Great Falls, Montana, a son of Glen Allen and Melvina Bravner Meeker. He graduated from Estacada High School in Estacada, Oregon, Class of 1946. He married Carletta Drysdale, February 8, 1965 in Estacada, Oregon. Gene enjoyed hunting, fishing, handiwork, boxing and bareback bull riding. He worked for the Estacada Oregon Police Department as a policeman and also for the Federal Forest Service in road construction. He is survived by his wife Carletta of Salina; children: Glen Allen Rose of Estacada, Oregon and Marsha Meeker of LaPine, Oregon; Terry Dean Meeker of Arkansas; Mitchell Meeker of California; three grandchildren: Jacob and Genie Rose of Ft. Lewis, Washington; Jeffrey Rose of Estacada, Oregon; Mateo Kuhn and McKenzie Kuhn both of LaPine, Oregon; and one great-grandson; Austin Rose of Ft. Lewis, Washington. He is the brother-in-law of Edward and Phyllis Calton of Salina. He was preceded in death by his parents, Glen and Melvina Meeker; brothers and sister; Kenneth Meeker, Duane Meeker, Gerald Meeker and Hazel Ficken. Memorial services will be held Sunday, December 11, 2011 at 3:00 p.m. In the Springer Turner Funeral Home Chapel, 150 East Main Street in Salina, where friends may visit with the family one hour prior to the services. Burial will take place at a later date under the care of the Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield and Salina, Utah.
