Gene Porter

Aurora, Utah - Our kind and beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend, Newbern Eugene “Gene” Porter Sr. age 75, died July 16, 2007 at his home in Aurora, of complications from cancer. He was born April 27, 1932 in Jackson, Tennessee a son of Archie Thomas and Lillie Bell Latham Porter. He married Shirley May Lawrence, August of 1971 in Las Vegas, Nevada and they were later divorced. He married Gloria E. Wootton Denbow, September 17, 1977 in Las Vegas, Nevada. Gene was a member of the LDS Church. He worked as a tree surgeon and later as a Foreman in Underground Construction. He enjoyed gardening, fishing and handiwork. He is survived by his wife of Aurora; children: Scott D. Porter, Sherri L and John Zucher, all of Rosamond, California; Donald L. and LuAnn Porter of Lancaster, California; step-sons: Glen J. Denbow and Mark R. Denbow, both of Orem; 5 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his siblings: Tom Dorris, Ewell Porter, Clara Porter, Dorothy Perkins, May Dorris and Helen Dorris. Funeral services will be held Friday, July 20, 2007 at 12 Noon in the Springer Turner Funeral Home Chapel, 260 North 400 West in Richfield, where friends may call for viewing Thursday evening from 6 to 8 P.M. or Friday morning from 10:30 to 11:30 prior to the services. Grave side services and burial will be Saturday at 1:00P.M. in the Midway Cemetery in Midway, Utah under the care of the Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield, Salina and Gunnison, Utah.
