Geneve D. Turner

August 16, 1922 — November 17, 2014

Loa, Utah - Our wonderful, kind, loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, Geneve Duncan Turner, passed away peacefully at home in Loa, on November 17, 2014, at the age of 92. Geneve was born August 16, 1922, in Bicknell, Utah, a daughter of Afton Kenneth and Geneve Baker Duncan. Geneve's mother passed away shortly after her birth. Her father was called to serve an LDS mission three years later. She was raised by her wonderful loving uncle and aunt, Joe and Adeline Jackson, along with their three children, Ernest, Worth, and Ferol. When Geneve was four years old, Joe passed away. Geneve graduated from Wayne High school and shortly after, during World War II, she and her sister Ferol, were employed at Hill Air Force Base. Geneve married her sweetheart, Garn D. Turner, on March 12, 1945, in Bicknell, Utah, later solemnized in the Manti Temple on March 18, 1972. They were blessed with six children. Geneve spent her life in Loa, employed at Royal's market for many years, custodian at the Wayne County Courthouse, and working alongside her husband in the family potato business. She was kind and compassionate, she loved everyone and was loved by all. Her children and grandchildren were the light of her life and nothing meant more to her than supporting them in their many endeavors. She was a member of the LDS church and served in various positions over the years. Her favorite activities were crocheting and handwork and she baked many, many loaves of bread during the years when her children were young and growing up. Friendships were important to Geneve and she always was more concerned about others than herself. She considered the gospel, family and friends the most important things in life. She had unconditional love for others was a great example to all who knew her. Geneve is survived by her beloved husband, Garn Turner of Loa; her children: Kenneth (Carolyn) Turner, Helper, Ut.; Monte (Jeanine) Turner, Richfield, Ut.; Lila Bowden, Cedar City, Ut.; Carol (Rollo) Brinkerhoff, Neola, Ut.; Wesley (Vicky) Turner, Salt Lake City, Ut.; Michael Turner, Salt Lake City, Ut.; 17 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren; half-sister, Deloris Duncan, Denver, Colorado. She is preceded in death by her parents and the parents who raised her; Siblings: Ernest (Elva) Jackson; Worth (Thelma) Jackson; Ferol (Jack) Evans; Leon Duncan; Great-granddaughter, Karlee Jack; Son-in-law, Greg Bowden. The family wishes to thank all those who have cared for Geneve over the past few years and especially the many nurses and employees at Serenity Springs Care Center in Loa. Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 22, 2014 at 11:00 A.M. in the Loa LDS Stake Center, where friends may call for viewing Saturday morning from 9:00 to 10:30 prior to the services. Burial will be in the Loa Cemetery under the care of the Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield and Salina, Utah.
