George C. Whitlock

August 10, 1910 — April 13, 2006

Lacey, Washington/ Bicknell, Utah - George Cleon Whitlock, age 95, passed away April 13, 2006 in Olympia, Washington, due to the infirmities of age. He was born August 10, 1910 in Mayfield, Utah, a son of George Franklin and Ida Skow Whitlock. He had two brothers, Boyd and Dale, and a sister, Zelda. George graduated from Snow College and Utah State college. He served in the US Navy during World War II. George married Gladys Brinkerhoff, December 21, 1940 in Bicknell, Utah. His working life was spent with the US Forest Service and he served as District Ranger in Loa and Ferron, Utah and on the supervisors staff in McCall, Idaho. He was an active member of the LDS Church and served as Branch President in McCall and on missions in Central America and Texas, after his retirement. He is survived by his son, Douglas Whitlock of Yelm, Washington and a brother, Dale Whitlock of Mesa, Arizona. Grave side services will be held Friday, April 21, 2006 at 1:00 P.M in the Bicknell Cemetery with military honors accorded by the Harold Brown American Legion Post #92 and under the direction of the Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield, Salina and Gunnison, Utah. No flowers please, memorials may be made in his name to the Nature Conservancy, 1917 First Ave. Seattle, WA. 98101.
