Goodbyes are not forever. Goodbyes are not the end. They simply mean we'll miss you until we meet again. Author unknown. George (Pat) Donald Robinson, age 91, passed away in South Jordan, Utah on March 6, 2016. He was born on November 11, 1924 in Leadville, Colorado to George Earl Robinson and Ethel Isabelle McEachern. He attended schools in Leadville, Colorado and Murray, Utah. He was drafted into the U.S. Navy during World War II in 1943 and received an honorable discharge in 1946. He was stationed and served on the island of Bermuda. After returning home, he met and married Mala Winn on September 14, 1946 in Salt Lake City, Utah. Sadly, after almost 53 years of marriage, Mala passed away on September 9, 1999. He later renewed his love for life by marrying Pauline Williams, August 11, 2000 in Murray, Utah. George was an avid fisherman, hunter, and had a love of the great outdoors. He was a handy man and could always be found tinkering around in his garage. He retired from the Kennecott Copper Refinery with over 34 years of service where he worked as a Sampler. He then sold his Midvale home and became a snowbird and moved south, having homes in Gunnison and Hurricane, Utah and settled in Mesquite, Nevada. He was a member of the Catholic Church. He is survived by his wife, Pauline, three surviving children, Linda (Kent) Campbell of Taylorsville, Rick (Vickie) Robinson of Park City, and Bonnie (Darrell) Shaffer of South Jordan, three stepsons, Craig, Scott and Mark Williams; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his three sisters Noreen (Mike) Fiedler of Taylorsville, Carol (Keith) Hansen of San Antonio, and Arlene (Ross) Robinette of San Antonio. He is preceded in death by his wife Mala, his two sons Gary and Roby , stepdaughter, Debra Bean, stepson, Gary Williams, son-in-law, Lane Thompson, his brother Edward, and his parents. George's children will remember him as a loving and supportive father. He was always a hard worker and a good provider to his family. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. We want to thank all the wonderful staff at Carrington Court Assisted Living and Millcreek Home and Hospice for their kind and compassionate care they showed him. Graveside services with military honors accorded by the Gunnison American Legion Post #104 and the Utah Honor Guard will be Saturday, April 16, 2016 at 12 Noon in the Gunnison City Cemetery under the care of the Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield and Salina, Utah.
