Gerald W. Prater

July 9, 1946 — April 10, 2020

Richfield, Utah – Our beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather and brother, Gerald Wayne Prater, age 73, passed away April 10, 2020 at his home in Richfield. He was born July 9, 1946 in Salt Lake City, Utah, a son of Jack D. and Lucile Fae Davis Prater. He graduated from Skyline High School, Class of 1964 and went to college in Computer Programming. He served his country during the Vietnam Conflict in the United States Air Force. Gerald married Cynthia Star Cummings in November of 1972 in Salt Lake City. They were later divorced. He later married Laura Savory December 18, 1986 in Holladay, Utah and they were divorced. He was a member of the Christ United Methodist Church. He worked as a Security Guard in several Malls. He also helped the Red Cross in Disaster Relief. Gerald is survived by his children: Daryl and Kristina Prater of Salt Lake City; William and Jennifer Prater of Richfield; Valerie Prater and Clinton Rupp of Idaho; grandchildren: William C., Kymbr, Victoria, Brynnlee, Michael, Conner, Kathrine, Meg, John, Brittney, Dalton, Hailey and Ryan; 8 great-grandchildren; step-children: Sean and Angie Sartori of Oregon, Kelly and Heidi Sartori of Kearns, Audra and Victor Najera of California; brothers and sister: Donald and Elizabeth Prater of Wyoming; Kenneth and Becky Prater of West Valley City; Elaine and Keith Greaves of Cottonwood Heights. He is preceded in death by his parents, John and Lucile Prater. At his request, his remains have been cremated and a celebration of life will be held at a later date under the care of the Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield and Salina, Utah.
