Glen Deleeuw

Lyman, Utah - Alfred Glen DeLeeuw, age 87, passed away June 8, 2011 at his home in Lyman, leaving those who knew and loved him with many beautiful memories. He was born June 8, 1924 in Bicknell, Utah, a son of Hyrum and Anna Kristine Torgerson DeLeeuw. He graduated from Wayne High School Class of 1943. He married Audrey Jones, March 31, 1944 in the Manti LDS Temple. He served his country during World War II in the Philippines. After his discharge from the Army, he returned home to his bride and his two year old daughter. Glen cut and hauled timber for his Uncle Wilford Torgerson and also helped his father on the family ranch and farm. He and Audrey built their home in Bicknell, Utah. In 1962, he purchased the family farm, and moved his family out on the ranch, making ranching and farming a life career. He raised mink, turkeys, sheep and cattle. He was a gentle shepherd. After suffering a severe stroke, Glen and Audrey left the ranch and moved to Lyman in 2001. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Connie and Terri, his special angels from Gunnison Home Health, for all their love and care. Glen is survived by his loving and caring wife of 67 years, Audrey; his children: Alta and J. Bryant Anderson; Joyce and Melvin J. Taylor; Wayne A. DeLeeuw; 12 grandchildren; 23.5 great-grandchildren; sisters: Della Brian; Faun and McKay Bagley; Betty and Homer Capner; brother, Fay and Arlene DeLeeuw; sister-in-law: Geniel DeLeeuw. He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings: H. Vern and Lynn DeLeeuw; Wayne R. DeLeeuw; Max J. DeLeeuw; brother-in-law: Roe Brian; and a great-granddaughter, BrieAnna Anderson. Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 11, 2011 at 1:00 P.M. In the Lyman LDS Ward Chapel, where friends may call for viewing Saturday morning from 11:00 to 12:30 prior to the services. Burial with military honors accorded by the Harold Brown American Legion Post #92 and the Utah Honor Guard will be in the Bicknell Cemetery under the care of the Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield and Salina, Utah.
