Glenna S. Long

December 2, 1945 — August 24, 2018

Aurora, Utah - Our kind and loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, step-daughter and friend, Glenna Shaw Long, age 72, of Aurora, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 24, 2018 in Gunnison. She was born December 2, 1945 in Ogden, Utah, a daughter of Glen J. and Thelma Nalder Shaw. She graduated from Ogden High School, Class of 1964. She worked at Hill Field Air Force Base as a Computer Tech until 1972. Glenna married William Wesley Long July 17, 1971 in Ogden. He died July 17, 1977. She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving in the Aurora 2nd Ward as the Sunday School Secretary and as the Scout Troop Secretary for over 36 years. She was a big part and influence of the boys in the Aurora 2nd Ward receiving their Eagle Scout Awards during those 36 years. Glenna loved to read and do crossword puzzles. She also loved to knit and do cross stitch. Anyone who knew Glenna, knew she was a big Utah Jazz Fan....GO JAZZ!!! She loved spending time with her grandkids and great-grandkids. They were the light of her life. Glenna is survived by her son and his wife, Matt and Tammy Long of Aurora; her step-father, Zane Hatch of Centerfield; grandchildren: Marissa and Kyle Chappell, Miranda and Skylyn Christensen, Madysen Long; great-grandchildren: Nixon Chappell and Sawyer Chappell with 1 on the way; sister-in-law: Ronda Shaw of Aurora. She is preceded in death by her father, Glen J. Shaw; her mother, Thelma N. Hatch; and her brother, Tracy J. Shaw. As per Glenna's request, there will only be a graveside service, for the public, held on Saturday, September 1, 2018 at 11:00 A.M. in the Aurora City Cemetery under the care of the Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield and Salina, Utah.
