Grace M. Potter

June 15, 1924 — December 13, 2015

Loa, Utah - Our kind and loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother and sister, Grace McClellan Potter, age 91, of Loa, passed away December 13, 2015 in Richfield. She was born June 15, 1924 in Glenwood, Utah, a daughter of William Jeppie and Elsie Estella Nielson McClellan. She graduated from Richfield High School, Class of 1942. She married William Zurrell Potter, December 21, 1945 in Glenwood. Their marriage was solemnized in the Manti LDS Temple February 24, 1951. Grace worked with her husband on their 190 acre farm, taking care of 300 head of sheep. She also went with Zurrell trucking, hauling turkeys, potatoes and hay. During the summer months, she was with Zurrell at the sawmill at Bowns Point on Boulder Mountain. Grace worked at the Turkey Plant in Salina; as the Wayne County Clerk and Auditor for 12 years and worked as abstractor for Nellie Taylor; and also co-owned and operated the Wayne Wonderland Motel in Loa for 17 years, as well as the Knotty Pine Cafe and the Corner Cafe in Loa for several years. Grace was an active member of the LDS Church, serving in all the auxiliaries. She and Zurrell served as Ordinance Workers in the Manti Temple for 12 years. She enjoyed camping, fishing, four-wheeling, spending time in Yuma and Quartzsite, Arizona and visiting with their family and friends. She is survived by her husband of Loa; children: Raymond and Diane Potter of Torrey; Sandra and Stan Hunt of Loa; 10 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; a brother Nial and Sally McClellan of St. George; sister-in-law: Arla P. McClellan of Richfield. She was preceded in death by her parents; a grandson, Justin Giles; four sisters and one brother: Elsie and Bert Larsen, Fern and Miles Roberts, Ila and Joe Asay, Lucille and Don Edwards; John and Gayle McClellan. Funeral services will be held Thursday, December 17, 2015 at 1:00 P.M.. in the Fremont LDS Ward Chapel, where friends may call for viewing Thursday morning from 10:30 to 12:30 prior to the services. Burial will be in the Loa Cemetery under the care of the Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield and Salina, Utah.
