Hal A. Nielson

October 26, 1932 — December 18, 2011

Victorville, CA/Richfield, Utah - Our beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle, Hal Arland Nielson, age 79, died December 18, 2011 in Fontana, California. He was born October 26, 1932 in Elsinore, Utah, a son of Walter Orian and Erma Eldora Salisbury Nielson. He served his country during the Korean Conflict in the United States Navy. Hal married Linda Sue Howell, December 19, 1981 in Las Vegas, Nevada. He worked for the City of South Gate, California as the Water Superintendent and retired after 30 years. Hal and Linda then moved back home to Richfield for 11 years and then returned to California where they have since resided. Hal enjoyed woodworking, deer hunting, doing puzzles and barbequing with his kids. He is survived by his loving wife of Victorville; his children: Randy Nielson of Paramount, CA; Lorraine and Bob Phillips of Menifee, CA; Brent and Janis Nielson of Big Bear, CA; Tania and Kevin Schmidt of Las Vegas, NV; 6 grandchildren: Diane Phillips, Nathan Peltier, Jon Phillips, Kevin Schmidt, Jr., David Schmidt, Nicholas Nielson; and a brother Dick and Mary Nielson of Loa, Utah. He was preceded in death by his parents; and three brothers; Robert and Vivian Nielson, Phillip and Renee Nielson; Boyd and Shirley Nielson. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, December 27, 2011 at 12 Noon in the Springer Turner Funeral Home Chapel, 260 North 400 West in Richfield, where friends may call for viewing Monday evening from 6 to 8 P.M. or Tuesday morning from 10:30 to 11:30 prior to the services. Burial with military honors accorded by the VFW Sevier Post #5050 and the Utah Honor Guard will be in the Richfield City Cemetery under the care of the Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield and Salina, Utah.
