St. George/Salina, Utah - Our kind and beloved husband, father, grandfather and brother, Harold Varr “Hal” Taylor, age 89, died May 18, 2012 at his home in St. George, with his family at his side. He was born March 17, 1923 in Fremont, Utah, a son of George Irvin and Katherine Butler Taylor. He graduated from Wayne High School, Class of 1942. He attended Utah State University and received a Bachelors in Business. Hal served his country during World War II in the United States Army, where he was awarded a Purple Heart. Hal married Hope Hunt, February 9, 1943 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. They were later divorced. He married Faye Webster Hatch, August 31, 1996 in Salina, Utah. He was an active member of the LDS Church, serving in various callings. Hal was very sociable. His personality made him a natural salesman. He worked for 30 years in sales and ownership in the aluminum shingle business at Aluminum Lock and Permalume. He was an expert horseman and belonged to the Ute Rangers and Dirty Dozen riding clubs. He was always active, he loved to dance, garden, fish, hunt and play golf. His most cherished time was spent with his beloved family. He is survived by his wife, Faye, of St. George and Salina; children: Narda and Tony Bilow of The Woodlands, Texas; Vardell and Brenda Taylor of West Jordan; Brenda Taylor of St. George; Janeal and Scott Musser of Niceville, Florida; step-children: Katherine and Ron Holyoak of Moab; Janell (Jarius, deceased) Keith of Provo; Lillian and Chad Shaheen of Salina; Ellise and Stuart Roundy of Aurora; 16 grandchildren; 17 step-grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; 38 step-great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Thelma T. Behunin of Salt Lake City. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Hope Hunt Taylor; a granddaughter, Tiffani Michele Cherry; a great-grandson, Anthony James Williams; a great-granddaughter, Paige Taylor; five brothers and two sisters: Albert William Taylor, Weldon B. Taylor, Kenneth J. Taylor, Vern R. Taylor, G. Alma Taylor, Melda T. Nelson and Leah T. Covington. The family would like to extend a special “Thank You” to the IHC Hospice nurses, doctors and care givers that so tenderly took care of our beloved Hal during his last weeks. Funeral services will be held Friday, May 25, 2012 at 11:00 A.M. in the Salina LDS Stake Center, 98 West 400 North in Salina, where friends may call for viewing Thursday evening from 6 to 8 P.M. or Friday morning from 9:30 to 10:30 prior to the services. Burial with military honors accorded by the Salina American Legion Post #36, the Harold Brown American Legion Post #92 and the Utah Honor Guard will be Friday afternoon at 3:30 P.M. in the Bicknell Cemetery under the care of the Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield and Salina, Utah.
