Gunnison, Utah - Our beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend to all, Harold Stark Jensen, age 87, of Gunnison, passed away in Provo, May 22, 2011, surrounded by his loving family. Harold was born July 15, 1923, the oldest of five children born to Ward Harold and Thelma Stark Jensen in Redmond, Utah. He married Ileene Nielsen on June 3, 1947, in the Manti Temple. Ileene died on March 12, 1991. He then married her twin sister, Florene Wilson on November 16, 1991. Harold was proud of his service in World War II in the Army Air Corps in the China, India, Burma Theater. He was one of the first two Americans in Rangoon, Burma, after it was liberated by the British. He graduated from the University of Utah in Elementary Education and received a Masters Degree in Accounting from BYU and earned his CPA. He moved from state to state while teaching at Troy State College in Alabama, Texas Western College, Eastern Illinois University and Missouri Western College. He enjoyed doing taxes and had his own CPA business until he suffered a stroke in 2006. He also served on the Utah State School Board. Harold loved to travel and was able to visit all of the states and several foreign countries and continents. Our Dad had a wonderful memory of people and places and friends he had all over the country and stayed in touch with them. His was a life of service and he loved helping people. He loved family gatherings and parties and attended almost every baby blessing, baptism, and wedding of all of his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He had many church positions and loved attending the temple. Harold is survived by his wife, Florene of Gunnison; children: Joanne (Bruce) Wayman of Sandy; Don (Diana) Jensen of American Fork; Jerry (Letha) Jensen of St. Joseph, Missouri; Nancy (Rick) Fullmer of West Valley; Connie (Danny) Brotherson of West Valley; 13 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren. Also by his step children: Grace Ann (Ray) Hallam of Benjamin; Kent (Glenna) Wilson of Myton; Terry (Willie) Wilson of West Jordan; Larry Wilson of Salt Lake City; Becky (Jeff) Kouns of Mona; and Jim (Penny) Wilson of Goshen; 23 step grandchildren, 47 step great-grandchildren and 2 step great-great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Barbara Nelson of Salina, and brother, Vearl (Shirley) Jensen of Midvale. He was preceded in death by his first his wife, Ileene; his brother Doug (Norma) Jensen, his sister Merlene Humphries. The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses at Gunnison Valley Home Health and Hospice, Gunnison Valley Hospital, Life Flight and ICU at Utah Valley Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be held Friday, May 27, 2011, at 11:00 A.M. in the Gunnison LDS Stake Center, 80 West Center, where friends may call for viewing Thursday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. and Friday morning from 9:30 to 10:30 prior to the services. Burial with military honors accorded by the Gunnison American Legion Post #104 and the Utah Honor Guard will be in the Redmond Cemetery under the care of the Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield and Salina, Utah.
