Snowmass, Colorado - Harriett JQ Phillips Noyes, age 94, peacefully passed away on January 26, 2025, at her home in Snowmass, Colorado. She was ready to "go home", as she said.
Harriett was born September 1, 1930 in Woody Creek, Colorado to Concer Henry Phillips and Ellamae Huffine.
Harriett spent her childhood in Snowmass, Colorado and she graduated from Basalt High School. Growing up she enjoyed riding horses, skiing, hunting, and her favorite pastime of all- annoying her brothers.
After High School Harriett earned her Bachelors from Mesa State in Grand Junction, and worked as a bookkeeper. During college she traveled to California to be a hair model.
In 1950 Harriett met the love of her life, Charles William Noyes, in Glenwood Springs, Colorado after being set up on a blind date by her two brothers, Ernest and John. Harriett and Charles were married December 9, 1950 in Las Vegas, Nevada. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Manti LDS Temple February 26, 1957. They spent 52 beautiful years together before he preceded her in death. Together, they had four wonderful children; Kenneth, Connie, Bonnie, Hyrum.
Harriett and Charles had their first home in White Canyon on the Colorado River, during their marriage they lived in Colorado, New Mexico, and Utah. While living in Hanksville Harriett was the Post Master until retirement. After the passing of her sweetheart, she moved back to Snowmass, Colorado where she served on the board of directors for Colorado Rural Water.
She loved horses, drawing, rock hunting, and she was an avid hunter. A beloved hobby that she shared with her husband and passed onto her children and grandchildren who will greatly miss her. She was known as "Hurricane Harriett", she didn't back down and she got things done.
Harriett is survived by her children: Kenneth (Ardell) Noyes of Lyman, Connie JQ Brown of Hanksville, Bonnie J Southard, Hyrum (Rayetta Noyes) all of Snowmass; and her brother Ernest (Carol) Phillips of Salt Lake City.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, grandsons: Brandon Taylor and Shane Brown, brother John Phillips, and sister in laws: Arlene Phillips and Carol Phillips.
Graveside services will be held at 1:00 P.M on Saturday, February 8, 2025 in the Hanksville Cemetery. Friends may call for viewing that morning from 11:00-12:30 P.M. at the Hanksville LDS Ward building, 59 South Center Street, Hanksville, Utah.
Services will be under the care of Springer Turner Funeral Homes of Richfield and Salina.
