Hayda Marie Shields

Salina, Utah - Our kind and beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend, Hayda Marie McKinlay Shields, age 76, passed away June 24, 2018 in Richfield, Utah. She was born January 7, 1942 in Richfield, a daughter of A. Douglas and Donna Goodin McKinlay. She graduated from Richfield High School, Class of 1960 and then attended Stevens Henager Business College. She married LeRoy Gates Shields February 22, 1975 in Salina. Their marriage was solemnized in the Manti LDS Temple February 24, 2001. LeRoy died June 23, 2017. Hayda loved being with her family and her grandchildren where her pride and joy. She was an active member of the LDS Church, serving in various callings. She loved working with her husband doing genealogy and enjoyed it to the fullest. She enjoyed scrapbooking, ceramics and crafts, and enjoyed horse riding in her younger years. Hayda is survived by her children: Landon D. and Nicole Shields, John P. Shields, Jenny Lee Bayles, all of Salina; 10 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren; brother, Sean McKinlay of Elsinore; sister-in-law: Dora McKinlay of Richfield. She was preceded in death by her husband, LeRoy; father, Doug McKinlay; mother, Donna Bishop; and a brother, Tony McKinlay. Graveside services will be held Friday, June 29, 2018 at 12:00 Noon in the Salina Eastside Cemetery. Friends may call for viewing at the Springer Turner Funeral Home in Salina, Friday morning from 10:00 to 11:30 prior to the services. Burial will be in the Eastside Cemetery under the care of the Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield and Salina, Utah.
