Helen J. Brind

September 8, 1928 — January 11, 2020

Monroe, Utah – Our kind and loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend, Helen Joy Hamman Brind, age 91, passed away January 11, 2020 in Midvale, Utah, surrounded by her loving family. She was born September 8, 1928 in South Gate, California, a daughter of Jobe Lee and Delila Peterson Hamman. She graduated from South Gate High School, Class of 1946. She attended University of California Los Angeles, Frank Wiggins Trade School and Los Angeles Trade College in Fashion Design. Helen married the love of her life, Fred Paul Brind April 12, 1957 in the Los Angeles LDS Temple. He preceded her in death February 3, 1969. After his death, Helen moved to Monroe, Utah in 1976 and made her home there. She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving in many callings, including Primary Teacher, Stake Primary Secretary and Relief Society Teacher. She was a member of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers Camp Alma of Monroe. Helen loved to Ice Skate and an ice dancer. She loved her beautiful gardens and could make anything grow. Roses and Peonies were her favorites. She was a beautiful seamstress. She could look at any style, go pick out fabric and make the identical style. She was a very good cook and taught her children to cook as well. She is survived by her children: Sandy and Richard Ross of Monroe; Craig Brind of West Valley City; 10 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren with one more due in April. She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and siblings: JoLee Hamman, Patricia Lee and George Kaer. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 18, 2020 at 12:00 Noon in the Monroe 4th LDS Ward Chapel, 49 East 200 North in Monroe, where friends may call for viewing Saturday morning from 10:00 to 11:30 prior to the services. Burial will be in the Monroe City Cemetery under the care of the Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield and Salina, Utah.
