Fremont, Utah - Our beloved Mom peacefully joined our Father in Heaven, and the love of her life, her beloved husband, Heber Brown Smith, Sr., on Wednesday, October 12, 2011 in Salt Lake City, surrounded by her family. She was born July 4, 1925 in Lyman, Utah, a daughter of Wallace and Thelma Alzina Cook Blackburn. She married Heber Brown Smith, Sr. April 9, 1949 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He died December 13, 1971. Helenbeth was well respected as a waitress and dining room manager at Little America, Dee’s, Helnic House Restaurants and Roper Café, all in Salt Lake City. She was a dedicated, faithful member of the LDS Church. Her Heavenly Father was her best friend. He faith and testimony never wavered. She held numerous callings in the church, such as Den Mother, Cub Scout Master, and Visiting Teacher. She also loved to go and do the work in the Temples. She loved gardening, ceramics, painting, writing, sewing and baking. She is survived by her children: Maurine and James Marshall of Arizona; Earleen Smith of Sandy; Archie and Cindy Smith of Nauvoo, Illinois; and Thelma Nilsson of Midvale; 15 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; a sister, Darlene Powers of Roosevelt; daughters-in-law: Dagmar Smith and Cindi Smith; numerous nieces and nephews and cousins. She is preceded in death by her husband; three sons: Wallace Blackburn Smith, Heber Brown Smith, Jr.; and Daniel LaVar Smith; a grandson, Benjamin Porter; a son-in-law: Donald William Nilsson; three sisters: Rhetta Tanner; Vella June Story and Coral Sterling; and a brother-in-law: Don Powers. The family would like to extend a special thanks to Trinity Care Center and all their staff, especially Mike and Deb Johnson, Dotty Maden, Joanna Furgison, Lisa Baptist, a very special room mate, Laurel Milner; Chaplin Vicki Newman and Inspiration Hospice. Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, October 19, 2011 at 1:00 P.M. in the Loa LDS Stake Center, with Bishop Kevin New of the Fremont Ward conducting. Friends may call for viewing at the Stake Center in Loa, Wednesday morning from 11:00 to 12:30 prior to the services.
