Venice, Utah - Our beloved husband, father, grandfather and brother, Hyrum Andrew Luke, age 83, died June 22, 2012 at his home in Venice. He was born July 5, 1928 in Midway, Utah, a son of Lawrence and Flora Leona Knudsen Luke. He graduated from Wasatch High School, Class of 1946. He attended Utah Valley Tech, going out in airplane mechanics. Hy married the love of his life, Betty Anna Cowley, December 9, 1948 in Venice. Their marriage was solemnized in the Manti LDS Temple September 8, 1953. Hy was an active member of the LDS Church. He was a High Priest and served as Cub Master and Secretary of the Elder’s Quorum and was a dedicated Home Teacher, having 100 % Home Teaching for 38 years straight. Hy like to hunt, fish, camp and garden. Hy was a life guard at Luke’s Hot pots in Midway while he was going to high school. He worked as a Hardrock miner at Ketely, Utah; worked at Pearson and Croft Dry Kiln in Richfield; Poulsen Distribution in Richfield; Cowley Feedlot in Venice; a bus driver for the Sevier School District; Georgia Pacific in Sigurd; Well driller with his father-in-law, Rodney Cowley; and was a farmer in Venice. Hy is survived by his bride of 63 years, Betty Luke of Venice; children: Randa and Devon Bullard of Aurora; Geraldine and Chris Peterson of Salina; Darren Luke of Elsinore; Gail and Jennifer Luke of Aurora; 16 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild on the way; two sisters: Joyce and Fred Deily of West Jordan; Ellen Nielsen of Oklahoma. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Lila Geneve Rowley; a brother-in-law: Kay Nielsen; a granddaughter: Tawna Michele Peterson and a great-granddaughter: Amelia Claudette Heidi Peterson. Grave side services will be held Monday, June 25, 2012 at 10:00 A.M. in the Venice Cemetery under the care of the Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield and Salina, Utah.
