Ilene R. Christensen

March 8, 1930 — February 6, 2015

Richfield, Utah - Ilene Rindlisbacher Christensen, age 84, of Richfield, died February 6, 2015 from complications of congestive heart failure. Surrounded by her family, Ilene quietly passed into the arms of her Savior and loved ones on the other side of the veil. Ilene was born in humble circumstances in Millville, Cache County, Utah, on March 8, 1930, the sixth of eleven children of LeRoy Alma and Isabell Nielson Rindlisbacher. She married the love of her life, Reed C Christensen, December 8, 1951 in Salt Lake City, Utah. Their marriage was solemnized in the Manti LDS Temple, December 11, 1963. Reed died August 15, 2001. Ilene graduated from South Cache High School. She was an avid reader, averaging 40 books each year. She loved to read to children, sew, cook, dance, swim, cycle, play games and joke. As a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Ilene revered the prophets and the scriptures, and served in many callings. Her favorite was Relief Society Cultural Refinement Teacher. She kept a spotless home where she devoted her life to her family. Her love, lessons of faith, service, and smile will never be forgotten. She scattered sunshine everywhere she went. Ilene is survived by her children: John and Davi Christensen of South Jordan; Ann and Charles Seegmiller of Richfield; Tom and Dixy Christensen of South Jordan; David and Darlene Christensen of Richfield; 28 grandchildren; 20 great-great-grandchildren; brother and sister: Jay and Maureen Rindlisbacher of Spanish Fork; Fern and Leigh Evans of Salt Lake City. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and eight siblings. Funeral services will be held Friday, February 13, 2015 at 12 Noon in the Richfield 7th LDS Ward Chapel, 159 North 400 West in Richfield. Friends may call for viewing at the Springer Turner Funeral Home in Richfield, Thursday evening from 6 to 8 P.M. or at the ward chapel Friday morning from 10:00 to 11:30 prior to the services. Burial will be in the Richfield City Cemetery under the care of the Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield and Salina, Utah. In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations be made to the missionary fund of the LDS Church.
