Loa, Utah - Our kind and beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister, Ilene Torgerson Van Dyke, age 87, of Loa, died in the early morning hours of July 7, 2008 at the home of her daughter in Salem, Utah. She was born August 7, 1920 in Lyman, Utah, a daughter of Wilford Andrew and Lucy Matthea Sorenson Torgerson. She married Norman B. Van Dyke, July 21, 1938 in Loa, Utah. Their marriage was solemnized in the Manti LDS Temple July 11, 1958. He died January 28, 2001. Ilene was a very active member of the LDS Church, serving in all the auxiliaries and she enjoyed her callings in singing, teaching, extracting and Temple work. Ilene drove the Wayne High School bus for many years, and treasured her relationships with the students and teachers. She is survived by her daughter, Sherry (Scott, deceased) Durfey of Salem, Utah; 7 grandchildren: Gary and LeAnn Durfey, Michael and Sharon Durfey, Roger and Tina Durfey, Dennis and Angela Durfey, Vicky and Marty Ray, Cody Durfey and Scott E. Durfey; 11 great-grandchildren; two sisters: Loyia and Ken Rees of Bicknell; Jean and Denzil Taylor of Loa. She was preceded in death by her parents, Wilford and Lucy Torgerson; her husband, Norm Van Dyke; a son-in-law, Scott Durfey; a sister: Maida and James Grace; and twin great-granddaughters, Tristen and Trina Durfey. Funeral Services will be held Friday, July 11, 2008 at 1:00 P.M. in the Loa LDS Stake Center, where friends may call for viewing Friday morning from 11:00 to 12:30 prior to the services. Burial will be in the Loa Cemetery under the care of the Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield, Salina and Gunnison, Utah.
