Iola Manwill Colby

Iola Colby Sigurd, Utah - Our kind and beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother, Georgia Iola Manwill Colby, age 89, died February 8, 2003 in Richfield, Utah. She was born May 24, 1913 in Greenwich, Utah, a daughter of George Tracy and Annie Marie Malmquist Manwill. Her father died three months before she was born and she was raised by her mother and step-father, Mr. Bartholomew. She married Walter Elisha Colby, June 24, 1932 in Manti, Utah. Their marriage was solemnized in the Manti LDS Temple August 13, 1981. Mr. Colby died June 14, 1989. Iola was an active member of the LDS Church. She loved going to the Temple. She enjoyed going fishing and camping. She was a good cook and liked working in her flower garden. She is survived by her children: Larry and Christine Colby of Lava Hot Springs, Idaho; Walter Don and Jeannice Colby of Monroe; Douglas and Joyce Colby, LaRae and Hal Anderson, all of Salt Lake City; Steven and Shirley Ann Colby of Sigurd; Marceil (Deceased) and Dustin Snedeger, LaVerkin; 30 grandchildren; 64 great-grandchildren; 23 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by three grandchildren, 1 great-grandson; and four sisters: Thelma Andrews, Alice Louise Bartholomew, Arminta Coonradt and Erma Sorenson. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, February 12, 2003 at 1:00 P.M. in the Sigurd LDS Ward Chapel. Friends may call for viewing at the Springer Turner Funeral Home in Richfield, Tuesday evening from 6 to 8 P.M. and at the ward chapel in Sigurd, Wednesday morning from 11:00 to 12:30 prior to the services. Burial will be in the Sigurd Cemetery under the direction of the Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield and Salina, Utah.
