Irene Hansen Christensen

Irene Hansen Christensen, age 88, of Richfield and formerly of Redmond, died December 6, 2005 in Richfield. She was born August 21, 1917 in Elsinore, Utah, a daughter of James Peter and Josephine Jacobsen Hansen. She married Vannoy Peter Christensen, December 2, 1932 in Richfield, Utah when she was fifteen years old and they moved to Redmond where they made their home and rasied their children. Vannoy died May 30, 1992. Irene was active in the LDS Church, serving as a Primary Teacher, working in the Young Women’s Program and she was a faithful Visiting Teacher for many, many years in the her Redmond Ward. She was a member and past Captain of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers, Camp Christine. Irene liked to cook and she enjoyed raising a flower garden. She was very artistic when it came to flowers. But most of all, she loved her family. She lived in Redmond all her married life, but moved to the Curtis Residential Home in Glenwood four years ago. Irene is survived by her children: Louise and Allen Taylor of West Valley City; Vannoy Junior Christensen of Redmond; Leon and Ginny Christensen of Draper; Judy Christensen of Richfield; 15 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; 11 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband; an infant son; a daughter, LaPreal Yergerson; a son, Wayne Christensen; and five brothers and two sisters: Earl Hansen, Keith Hansen, Frank Hansen, Chris Hansen, Calvin Hansen, Janice Jackson and Phyllis Roberts. Funeral services will be held Friday, December 9, 2005 at 12 Noon in the Springer Turner Funeral Home Chapel in Richfield, where friends may call for viewing Friday morning from 10:30 to 11:30 prior to the services. Burial will be in the Redmond Cemetery under the direction of the Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield, Salina and Gunnison, Utah.
