Ivan J. Jensen

November 1, 1911 — April 13, 2008

Centerfield, Utah - Our kind and beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and uncle, Ivan James Jensen, age 88, of Centerfield, died April 13, 2008 in Mayfield, Utah. He was born November 1, 1911 in Centerfield, the fourth child and a son of Alexius Christian and Christene Marie Jensen Jensen. He married Madge Buchanan August 7, 1940 in the Manti LDS Temple. Ivan had been in ill health since the death of his wife September 6, 2007, after 67 years of marriage. Ivan spent his life working at farming, truck driving and sheet rock construction, raising a family of three boys and two girls. He worked from Sanpete County, Utah to Orange County, California, by way of Sandy, Utah, then returning to Centerfield in 1993, where he served as Senior Citizens President for a couple of years. At this time he also began raising red potatoes, which he would share with his brothers and sisters, their families and many more. He enjoyed hunting, but mostly riding the back roads of town and in the mountains to the East of his home, that he could view from his chair, through his large picture window, year round. He is survived by his children: Mardy and Karen Jensen, and Russell M. Jensen, all of Centerfield; LaMaun and Debbie Jensen of Midvale; Venna and Russell Dreshek of Oconto, Wisconsin; Sherry and John Claire of Tooele, 16 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren and numerous great-great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters: Allen Eugene and Nancy Jensen of Centerfield; Moyle Christen Jensen of Sandy; Zelma Christena and Pat Kelly of Tooele; Elva Jane and Mardell Jensen of Centerfield; sister-in-law: Marge Jensen of Salina. He was preceded in death by two brothers and one sister: Rignel A.and Twyla Jensen; Robert Soren Jensen; Margaret Marie Thomson and sister-in-law: DeOn Jensen. For the past several days prior to his death, Ivan has been sharing his conversation with his wife Madge, and has now gone to meet her. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, April 16, 2008 at 12 Noon in the Centerfield 2nd LDS Ward Chapel in Axtell, Utah. Friends may call for viewing at the ward chapel in Axtell, Tuesday evening from 6 to 8 P.M. or Wednesday morning from 10:30 to 11:30 prior to the services. Burial will be in the Centerfield City Cemetery under the care of the Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield, Salina and Gunnison, Utah.
