Jack Linfor

Elsinore, Utah - John Eugene "Jack" Linfor, age 87, of Elsinore, passed away on May 24, 2016 in Richfield, Utah. He was born October 9, 1928 in Sioux City, Iowa, a son of Charles Arthur "Art" and Gladys Irene Maynard Linfor Jr. He served in the Merchant Marines during World War II from 1944 to 1946. He married Ardeth Conder, November 17, 1946 in Ruth, Nevada. Their marriage was solemnized July 15, 1989 in the Provo LDS Temple. She died March 8,2004. He married Dorothy Sporle Makin, June 9, 2005 in Richfield, Utah. Their marriage was solemnized in the Manti LDS Temple June 9, 2006. Jack was an active member of the LDS Church, serving as Cub Master, Scout Master, and serving a two year mission at Cove Fort and a two year mission at the Family History Center. He was a High Priest and an honorary member of the Relief Society in his current ward. He was a member of the American Legion, the Masonic Lodge, the Elks Lodge and served on the Senior Citizen Board several times. He also drove the Senior Citizen Bus. He volunteered at the Cowboy Corral in Elsinore for many years. Jack loved work and more work. He would volunteer to do anything and everything, especially if no one else would do it. The more unpleasant, the better for Jack. He was a handy man and could fix anything. Jack is survived by his wife, Dorothy, of Elsinore; children: Dixie Jean and Carson Coffelt of Show Low, Arizona; Michael John Linfor of Scotsdale, Arizona; Robin Arthur and Shary Linfor of Plumas Lake, California; 9 grandchildren: Tammi Bennett, Fred Miller, Gregory Scott Linfor, Cali Andria Peck, Taja Leigh Noelle Gorzycki, Sara Maya Davey, Emily Blanchard, Tracy Lynn Barnes, Linsey Dee Beeson, great-grandchildren: Alesia Chapman, Franklin Peck, Madison Joanne Gorzycki, Harley DAvey, River Scott Davey, Paityn Blanchard, Hunter Blanchard, Olyvia Jean Lether, Taylor Lily Barnes, Joe Acosta and Trinity Chapman. He is preceded in death by his first wife, Ardeth Conder Linfor; his parents, Charles Arthur and Gladys Maynard Linfor; two grandchildren: Mercedes Linfor and Timothy Dunagan; and two brothers: Rodney Linfor and Donald Linfor. Funeral services will be held Thursday, June 2, 2016 at 12 Noon in the Elsinore LDS Ward Chapel, where friends may call for viewing Thursday morning from 10:00 to 11:30 prior to the services. Burial with military honors accorded by the Monroe American Legion Post #37 and the Utah Honor Guard will be in the Elsinore Cemetery under the care of the Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield and Salina, Utah. The family would like to express their gratitude to the Richfield Care Center and their amazing staff, for the excellent care and compassionate service Jack received during his time in that facility.
