Richfield/Torrey, Utah - Jack M. Terry passed away at the home of his youngest son in Provo, Utah on October 26, 2006, at the age of 88, surrounded by his loving family. He was born November 19, 1917 in St. Maries, Idaho, a son of Luther and Bessie Sowell Terry. Jack was the second youngest son in a family of 7 children. Jack was proud to have served in the Army Air Corp during World War II, where he trained to be a radio operator. He married Iva Irene “Dee” Winn, May 21, 1939 in Phoenix, Arizona. Their marriage was solemnized in the Mesa Arizona Temple in June of 1956. Jack also had careers as a Railroad Engineer, worked for the Federal Aviation Agency and his children will always remember him riding a white mule down the Grand Canyon while working for the Mountain Bell Telephone Company. In the summer of 1983, Jack and his family moved to Torrey, Utah, where he built a home and later buried his wife, Dee. She died June 6, 1986. While living in Torrey, he played music with The Poverty Bench Boys, worked on various inventions and played a huge role in the lives of his grandchildren. Jack later moved to Richfield and played with the Old Time Fiddlers. He played many string instruments and music was a life long love. He has enjoyed the last year of his life living with Michael and Evone Terry in Provo. All who have know Jack Terry will deeply mourn his passing. Jack is survived by his four children: James Terry of Eckert, Colorado; Janet Terry of Spanish Fork; Benjamin and Jody Terry of Eureka, NV; Michael and Evone Terry of Provo; he also leaves behind 22 grandchildren and 49 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Dee; five brothers: Cecil Theron Terry, Lonnie Dean Terry, Lewis Fowell Terry, Benny Troy Terry, Luther Maxwell Terry; 1 sister: Marie Elizabeth "Molly" Connolly; 1 granddaughter, 1 great-granddaughter and 1 great-grandson. Funeral services for Jack M. Terry will be held Thursday, November 2, 2006 at 11:00 A.M. in the Richfield 2nd LDS Ward Chapel, 801 North 500 East in Richfield, where friends may call for viewing Thursday morning from 9:30 to 10:30 prior to the services. Grave side services and burial with military honors accorded by the Harold Brown American Legion Post #92 will be in the Torrey Cemetery Thursday afternoon at 3:00 P.M. under the care of the Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield, Salina and Gunnison, Utah.
