Orem/Loa, Utah - Jackie Sorenson King, age 79, of Orem, passed away October 23, 2014, surrounded by her loving family at a care center in Highland Utah, after a valiant battle with Alzheimer's disease. She was born September 12, 1935, in Loa, Utah, a daughter of Worth and Nancy Blackburn Sorenson. She was raised on a farm in Loa, where she learned the importance of family, the Gospel, and hard work. She graduated from Wayne High School, Class of 1953 before attending Utah State University. Jackie married her high school sweetheart, James (Jim) King, who grew up in the nearby town of Teasdale. They married in the Manti LDS Temple June 25, 1954 and throughout their lives were deeply in love and devoted to each other. Jackie was admired for her high-energy, friendliness, and happy disposition. She will always be remembered for her Christ-like compassion, always putting other peoples’ needs before her own. After Jim became severely disabled by a stroke at the age of 58, Jackie served as Jim’s caretaker for the next 14 years before his death in 2004. Her uncomplaining service to her husband during these years serves as an extraordinary example of love and sacrifice. Jackie is survived by her sister: Cuma Hoopiiaina; and two brothers: Phillip Sorenson and Enoch Sorenson. She will be especially missed by her three sons Steve King, Brad and Cosette King, Greg and Leslie King; her daughter Stacy and Kevin Tycksen; and her nine grandchildren.
