James Cosby

Aurora, Utah - James Melvin Cosby, age 89, passed away on Monday, April 26, 2021 in St. George, Utah. James was born on August 31, 1931 in Phoenix, Arizona. He was the son of Melvin Powell and Dora Angle Cosby. He grew up in Escondido, California. He served in the US Navy during the Korean War from 1950 to 1954. He married Barbara Elizabeth Jenkins on April 18, 1959 in Escondido, California. James and Barbara had a wonderful life together. They had a winter home in Beaver Dam, Arizona. They liked to garden, riding ATV’s, and playing the slot machines. They loved to square dance, and enjoyed the life they shared. James is survived by two nephews Randy Cosby of Cedar City; Larry G. Cosby of Aurora; two nieces Debbie Anderson of Aurora; Sandra Malgren of Aurora; a sister-in-law Luella Cosby of Aurora. He was preceded in death by both of his parents; his two brothers Richard Lee Cosby and Larry Cosby. Graveside service with military honors accorded by the Salina American Legion Post #36 and the US Navy Honor Guard will be held at 11:00 A.M. Thursday, April 29 in the Aurora City Cemetery, 300 North 200 West, Aurora, Utah. Services are under the care of the Springer Turner Funeral Homes of Richfield and Salina, Utah.
