James H. Soyka

October 18, 1928 — May 28, 2020

Richfield, Utah – Our beloved husband and brother, James Harold Soyka, age 91, of Richfield, passed away May 28, 2020 in Richfield. He was born October 18, 1928 in Salina, a son of Joseph Harold and Eleanor Henrie Soyka. He graduated from Richfield High School, Class of 1946 and then attended the University of Utah. James served his country in the United States Navy during World War II where he received the Victory Medal. He married Katherine Faye Olsen November 26, 1989 in Grants Pass, Oregon. James was the owner and operator of an auto mechanic shop for many years. He was also a member of the Richfield Elks Lodge. He enjoyed bowling, golfing, skiing and prospecting. He will be greatly missed. James is survived by his loving wife, Katherine of Richfield; a sister, Sidney Graves of Hurricane. He is preceded in death by his parents, Eleanor and Harold Soyka. James wanted to donate his body to the University of Utah Body Donor Program, because of his love of the U of U, but because of the COVID-19 crisis, the University isn’t accepting any body donations now. His remains have been cremated and burial will take place at a later date in the Richfield City Cemetery under the care of the Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield and Salina, Utah.
