Jay E. Anderton

Monroe, Utah - Our beloved husband, father, grandfather and brother, Jay Eugene Anderton, age 79, died October 26, 2011 in Richfield. He was born January 15, 1932 in Monroe, a son of Charles and Edna Jean Christiansen Anderton. He graduated from South Sevier High School, Class of 1950 and then he attended Carpenter School. He joined the United States Air Force and served his country during the Korean Conflict as a mechanic. Jay married the love of his life, Priscilla Sue King from Bicknell, Utah on November 27, 1960 in Elko, Nevada. Their marriage was solemnized in the Manti LDS Temple June 26, 1964. Jay was a member of the LDS Church and the American Legion. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening and story telling. His pride and joy was his grandkids. He loved spending countless hours just visiting with them. Jay is survived by his wife of Monroe; children: Helen Sue Anderton, Ron and Tammy Anderton, Rick Jay Anderton, all of Richfield; David and April Anderton of Monroe; Julie and Doyle Nielson of Pleasant Grove; 7 grandchildren: Erik Cram, Travis Ron Anderton, Jayden Sean Anderton, Morgan Lee Anderton, Kaci Hope Anderton and Jay David Anderton; a sister Charlaine and Doug Hansen of Washington. He was preceded in death by a grandson, Keith Jay Anderton; his parents, Charles and Jean Anderton; and a brother, Douglas Charles Anderton. Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 29, 2011 at 12 Noon in the Monroe LDS Stake Center, 140 South Main Street in Monroe, where friends may call for viewing Saturday morning from 10:00 to 11:30 prior to the services. Burial with military honors accorded by the Monroe American Legion Post #37 and the Utah Honor Guard will be in the Monroe City Cemetery under the care of the Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield and Salina, Utah.
