Loa, Utah - Our kind and loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and aunt, Jean Torgerson Taylor, age 92, passed away June 3, 2015 at her home in Loa, surrounded by her loving family. She was born July 19, 1922 in Lyman, Utah, a daughter of Wilford Andrew and Lucy Matthea Sorenson Torgerson. She graduated from Wayne High School, Class of 1940. That summer, on her 18th birthday, she married the love of her life, Denzel Leonard Taylor from Loa, on July 19, 1940 in the Manti LDS Temple. They made their home in Loa and raised eight wonderful children. Denzel died October 19, 2009. Jean was an active member of the LDS Church, serving as Primary President in the Loa Ward, working in the Scouting Program and serving as Scout Trekker Leader, Guide Patrol Leader and Blazer Leader; and she received the Silver Beaver Award in the Scouting Program. Her life was centered around her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, all of whom she cared for and loved with all her heart. Jean will be greatly missed. She is survived by her children: Rhea Casper of West Valley City; Denzel Eugene and Jackie Taylor of Layton; Angela and Darwin Henrie, Thomas Rees Taylor, Helen and Layne Jones, all of Loa; Andy and Diane Taylor of West Jordan; Dan and Jeanette Taylor of Bicknell; 34 grandchildren and 52 great-grandchildren; a sister: Loyia and Kenneth Rees of Bicknell. She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents, Wilford and Lucy Torgerson; a daughter, Lucy Ann Webster; two grandsons: Alex T. Casper and Andrew T. Nelson; a great-grandson: Alexander K. Casper; two sons-in-law: Keith C. Casper and Robert M. "Bob" Nelson; and two sisters: Maida and James Grace; Ilene and Norman Van Dyke. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, June 10, 2015 at 1:00 P.M. in the Loa LDS Stake Center, were friends may call for viewing Wednesday morning from 11:00 to 12:30 prior to the services. Burial will be in the Loa Cemetery under the care of the Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield and Salina, Utah.
