Jeannine Chisholm

Central Valley, Utah - Jeannine Beth Atkin Chisholm, age 81, of Central Valley, Utah, passed away in her home from complications of influenza A on January 10, 2024. Jeannine was born November 21, 1942, in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Gene and Dolores Atkin. She spent her childhood in Cheyenne, Wyoming; Seattle, Washington; and Salt Lake City. She graduated from Granite High School in 1961, where she was involved in dance and athletics. She then attended the University of Utah, majoring in Executive Secretarial and minoring in Dance. It was at the U that she met Wayne Richard Chisholm on a blind date, where they were matched up according to height. They were the two tallest.

Jeannine and Wayne were married on September 2, 1964, in the Salt Lake City, Utah LDS Temple. They started their family soon after. They moved to St Louis, Missouri in 1968, with two little boys in tow, for Wayne to attend dental school. Four years later, after finishing dental school, they moved to Winslow, Arizona, with four little boys in tow. Wayne was the chief dental officer of the Indian Health Service and Jeannine taught dance at Northland Pioneer College. While in Winslow, they had their 5th child and only daughter. In 1977, they moved to Central Valley, Utah, where they have resided ever since.

Jeannine established Chisholm Dance Academy in 1978 and taught dance to many children, youth, and adults in the valley for many years. It was during this time that she was hired by Danny Hoctor to help teach and judge at his famous Hoctor’s Dance Caravan. In this employment, she traveled to Las Vegas, Disneyland, and Disney World. These trips helped strengthen her love for dance and for Disney. After retiring from dance instruction, Jeannine became a Certified Hypnotherapist. In this vocation she was able to help many people, including helping people with pain control.

In 1995, Wayne and Jeannine went on their first dental service trip to the South Pacific. This developed into a love of helping the Polynesian people, where she completed 27 trips to the South Pacific, including a 2 year full-time mission.

Her greatest joy in life was being a mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She loved sharing what she enjoyed with her children and grandchildren. She is loved and will be greatly missed.

Jeannine is survived by her beloved husband, Dr. Wayne Chisholm of Central Valley; her children, Dr. Richard (Loreen) Chisholm of Monroe, Utah; Michael (Becca) Chisholm of Meridian, Idaho; Dr. Jon (Cathi) Chisholm of West Mountain, Utah; Dr. Jared (Becky) Chisholm of Grand Junction, Colorado; and Riana (Shane) Jasperson, of Santaquin, Utah; 21 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren (and counting); and her brother Gary (Marsha) Atkin of Salt Lake City, Utah.

She is preceded in death by her parents; and her brother, Tom Atkin.

Funeral services will be Monday, January 15, 2024 in the Central Valley 2nd LDS Ward Chapel at 12:00 Noon. Friends may visit with the family on Sunday, January 14, 2024, from 6 to 8 P.M. at the Springer Turner Funeral Home in Richfield, or at the Central Valley Ward Chapel Monday morning from 9:00 to 11:30 prior to the services.
