Jeffrey Caley

June 16, 1962 — January 18, 2024

Lyman, Utah – Our beloved father, brother, grandfather, and friend, Jeffrey Austin Caley, passed away on January 18, 2024 at his home in Lyman.

Jeffrey was born in Provo on June 16, 1962 to David Tagg and Charlotte Faye Leftwich Caley. He grew up in Provo, alongside his 3 sisters: Tammy, Crystal, and Mindy. Jeff was a toddler when they went on a family ride in the car. Jeff was in the backseat with Tammy and Mindy and decided he wanted to share his cherries with his dad. He proceeded to pass cherries to him one by one. Dad was really enjoying the cherries. Mom looked back to see where Jeff was getting these delicious cherries to share with dad. The more Dad ate the more mom couldn’t contain her laughter, as she knew where the cherries had come from. Dad didn’t understand what was so funny, as according to him, “they were clearly the best cherries he had ever tasted.” Mom delayed but finally was able to tell him, through broken laughter, that Jeff was supplying the cherries from the deep pockets of his wet diaper. Jeffrey attended Provo High School. He married Shelly Corbit on January 30, 1988, and together they raised 3 children: Jessica, Austin, and Dawn. They moved to Lyman in 1995 and were divorced in 2014.

Jeffrey was well known in Lyman and known as “Hey Dude” by most in the community. He was a tinkerer, fixer, and inventor. He could make something out of nothing and could rig something that was broken up to work better than it did to begin with. He loved going to drag races and riding motorcycles.

Jeffrey is survived by his children: Jessica and Austin Caley, both of Laverkin; Dawn (Martae) Martineau of Hurricane; Grandchildren: Bentley Jackson of Laverkin; Jacy and Taeden Martineau of Hurricane; Sisters: Crystal (Rob) Rowley and Mindy (Ed) Halladay, both of Provo; brother-in-law Doug Halladay of Orem.

He is preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Tammy Halladay.

A celebration of life for Jeffrey will be held at a later date. Services are under the care of the Springer Turner Funeral Homes of Richfield and Salina, Utah.
