Jerry B. Deleeuw

June 27, 1932 — August 21, 2005

Richfield, Utah - Our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, Geraldine (Jerry) Breinholt DeLeeuw, age 73, passed away at her home in Richfield, Utah on Sunday, August 21, 2005 after a short 5 month battle with cancer. She was born June 27, 1932 in Venice Utah, a daughter of Mahonri ReVell (Vell) and Wilda Oldroyd Breinholt. Jerry graduated from Richfield High School Class of 1950. She attended the “Branch Agricultural College” in Cedar City for a time. Jerry married her husband, Loren Wilford DeLeeuw, on November 2, 1951 in Venice, Utah. Loren and Jerry lived in Salt Lake City for 34 years. They had two children, Kathleen and Wayne. After working at Litton Systems for 28 years, she retired with Loren and enjoyed spending winters in Arizona. Jerry’s greatest joy was her family. She was a meticulous homemaker and gardener and loved crocheting and crafts of all kinds. Loren and Jerry returned to Richfield in 1999 to be close to Jerry’s aging mother. Jerry was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She loved serving in her church positions and especially as a visiting teacher in the Richfield 2nd Ward. She told everyone she had the best friends, visiting teachers, and home teachers in the world. In October 2003, Jerry went through the Manti Temple and has loved attending the Temple ever since. Jerry loved her five grandchildren very, very much and was looking forward to her first great-grandchild this December. Jerry will always be remembered with joy, love, and appreciation. She is survived by her husband, Loren of Richfield; son: Wayne (Eileen) DeLeeuw of Tooele; daughter: Kathy (Bill) DeVore of Salt Lake; 5 grandchildren; sister: Una Loy (Leo) Prestwich of Springville; brother: Robert (Carol) Breinholt of Richfield. She was preceded in death by her parents and nephew Michael Breinholt. The family wishes to thank the Huntsman Cancer Institute, especially Dr. Wolfram Samlowski and his staff. Funeral Services will be held Saturday, August 27, 2005, at 12:00 noon in the Richfield 2nd LDS Ward Chapel, 801 North 500 East. Friends may call for viewing at the Springer Turner Funeral Home, 260 North 400 West, in Richfield, Friday evening from 6:30-8:30 and at the ward chapel Saturday morning from 10:30-11:30 a.m. prior to the services.
