Jerry Cherry

August 4, 1919 — July 9, 2016

Salina, Utah - Our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend, Geraldine "Jerry" Fairbanks Cherry, age 96, of Salina, died July 9, 2016 in Richfield, of complications from Alzheimer's Disease. She was born August 4, 1919 in Burrville, Utah a daughter of Vern Morse and Cleo Hanchett Fairbanks. She graduated from Richfield High School, Class of 1939 and attended Brigham Young University for two years. She married Howard Wesley Cherry, Jr. March 21, 1940 in Richfield. He died July 8, 2000. Jerry was an active member of the Eastern Star in Richfield and several civic clubs in Salina. She loved gardening and grew an English Walnut tree from the nut. The tree is still beautiful today after over 50 years. She also braided rugs, a lot of rugs!!! She is survived by her children: Ann and Charles Thompson of Payson; Kevin and Deborah Cherry of Monroe; 8 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a son, Howard Cherry; a grandson, Eric Thompson; and her siblings: Donna Jensen, Max Fairbanks, Vonola Christensen and Gertrude Mattsson. Grave side services will be held Wednesday, July 13, 2016 at 12 Noon in the Salina Pioneer Cemetery under the care of the Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield and Salina, Utah.
