Jim G Burr

July 13, 1943 — June 30, 2015

Salina, Utah - James G Burr, a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend, died on June 30, 2015 in Payson, Utah after a long battle with Parkinson's disease. He was surrounded by loved ones as he left this life on his way to Heaven. He was born July 13, 1943, in Salina, Utah, a son of Myron Beason and Olive Bell Mickelsen Burr. Jim graduated from North Sevier High School and proudly enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps and served in the Vietnam War. On his return home, he found joy in his brand-new Chevy Chevelle, but he found his true love when he met Fern Ann Edwards, whom he married on August 6, 1972. Their marriage solemnized in the Manti LDS Temple on May 5, 1979. Jim worked for Utah Power and Light for 29 years, and loved being involved with his community, serving as an EMT, a stint on the Salina City Council and a volunteer fireman for the Salina Fire Department for 29 years, where he served as Captain, Assistant Chief and Secretary. He especially loved devoting time with the American Legion in his later years and took much pride in displaying the American flag. As a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, he served in various callings over the years. Jim loved his time tooling around town or the nearby mountains in his truck, country music always playing in the background, as well as watching his grandchildren grow and cheering on his family. He is survived by his devoted wife, Ann of Salina; children: Jann and Tyler Perkins of Herriman; Wesley and Krista Burr of Redmond; Shelley and Troy Hatch of Grand Junction, Colorado; and Thomas Burr of Washinton DC; , a brother Brent and Janece Burr of Bennion; and a sister-in-law: Arda Burr of Salina. He leaves behind 13 grandchildren and three great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his brothers Jack Burr and Wayne Burr, and sisters Verna Dean Bigler and Elaine Burr. The family would like to extend its gratitude to the staff of the Heritage Hills Rehabilitation and Care Center in Nephi and the Central Utah Veterans Home in Payson for their caring support. Funeral services will be held Tuesday July 7, 2015 at 12 Noon in the Salina 2nd LDS Ward Chapel, 85 South 100 East in Salina.
