Joe Caruso

December 17, 1942 — September 29, 2018

Richfield, Utah - Our kind and loving husband, father, grandfather and friend, Joseph William Caruso III, age 75, passed away September 29, 2018 at his home in Richfield, after a valiant and brave battle with cancer. He was born December 17, 1942 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, a son of Joseph William and Philomena "Mae" Triggiano Caruso II. He married Judy Lynn "Sandy" Ormond July 8, 1971 in Las Vegas, Nevada. Their marriage was solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple December 5, 1980. Joe was a convert to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and a very faithful member. He loved teaching in the High Priest Group and Gospel Doctrine Classes. He also loved taking widows to the Temple, along with his wife, Sandy. Extremely proud of his Italian heritage, Joe loved opera music and authentic Italian food. Homemaked spaghetti with family and friends was a normal occurrence at the Caruso home. Joe was an accomplished horse trainer. Together with his wife, they had a public training stable producing major horse events including Team Penning at the Days of 47 Rodeo. Currently they operate a horse breeding operation known as Thunder Mountain Stud Farm, having bred AQHA and APHA horses for the past 4 decades. Joe loved his precious grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Joe is survived by his wife, Sandy, of Richfield; children: Jared J. and Misty Caruso of Richfield; Heather M. Caruso of Salt Lake City; Michelle T. Murdock of Richfield; Kevin and Jamie Tominey of South Jordan; 16 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; brother and sister: Ronald Caruso of Las Vegas, Nevada; Donna Wallace of Warrington, Pennsylvania. Funeral services will be held Friday, October 5, 2018 at 12:00 Noon in the Richfield 6th LDS Ward Chapel, 10 South 200 East in Richfield. Friends may call for viewing at the Springer Turner Funeral Home in Richfield, Thursday evening from 6 to 8 P.M. or at the ward chapel Friday morning from 10:00 to 11:30 prior to the services. Burial will be in the Richfield City Cemetery under the care of the Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield and Salina, Utah.
