Richfield, Utah - Our beloved husband, father and grandfather, John Bennett Harter, Sr. age 88, died April 30, 2008 at his home in Richfield. He was born July 26, 1919 in Logan, Iowa, a son of Gerald Everett and Ida Elizabeth Durfee Harter. He married J. Alyce Ploub March 18, 1939 in Vancouver, Washington. She died April 12, 1992. He married Nadine M. Coleman, January 25, 2004 in Richfield, Utah. John was a veteran of World War II, serving in the United States Navy. He was a Christian and a member of the Elks Lodge for 40 years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and reloading ammo. He is survived by his wife of Richfield; children: Suzanne Eriksen of Dallas, Oregon; John B. Harter, Jr. Of Federal Way, Washington; Lynne and Allan Zurowski, Sr. of New Meadows, Idaho; Ellen and Robert Row of Richfield; Ellis Gary and Marcella Coleman of Prunedale, California; 12 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers: Neal Harter and Orvie Harter; a sister, Leona Broadus; and a grandson, Darren Wayne Copple. Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 3, 2008 at 12 Noon in the Springer Turner Funeral Home Chapel, 260 North 400 West in Richfield, where friends may call for viewing Saturday morning from 10:30 to11:30 prior to the services. Burial with military honors accorded by the Elsinore American Legion Post #75 will be in the Elsinore Cemetery under the care of the Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield, Salina and Gunnison, Utah.
